Million will perish to an Earthquake of magnitude higher than 7.0 in Ghana
By Richard Agodzo Ghana will record more that a million death and casualties if it is hit by an earthquake with a similar magnitude that hit Syria and Turkiye. Overtime, Accra has experienced several earth tremors. The recent was felt on Friday, March 10, 2023 at a magnitude of 2.8. According to the Ghana Geological Survey Authority (GGSA), said it was a minor incident which is not expected to cause damage. The GGSA explained that, the 2.8 recorded on the Richter scale had it epicenter located 1.5km offshore near James Town. On Monday December 12, 2022, Accra experienced a moderate earth tremor at magnitude 4.0, with it epicenter located in the western part of Accra, 10km from Gbawe. The phenomenon which took place at 11:53 am local time occurred three times in a space for about five hours.
