Police recruits: Kofi Boakye's son is one of 9 best under cadet recruits

General Sergeant Kwaku Aduenin Boakye, son of Mr Nathan Kofi Boakye, on Friday emerged as the overall best graduating under cadet from the Kumasi Police Training School. His father, Nathan Kofi Boakye is a notable police officer, who is currently a Commissioner of Police (COP), serving as the Director-General of Legal and Prosecution of the Ghana Police Service. General Sergeant Kwaku Aduenin Boakye was part of the 612 recruits who passed out from the training school and the overall nine (9) best under cadets nationwide. They took home cash awards, plaques, baton of honour and life and disability insurance policies. A total of 612 recruits on Friday (July 29, 2022) passed out from the training school made up of 300 females and 312 males including 98 under cadets. Facebook user has taken personal to condemn a post from one MeYɛ Asanteni .  According to post, he singularly gave accolades to Joseph Amoah for his split time of 8.92 seconds. The post read, “Asante Pride ……. 2022 World Athletics Championships, making Prempeh College and Asanteman proud. A product of inter- Co and Super- zonal competition in Ashanti region.” The post described Joseph as a Ghanaian racer among the fastest athletes in the men’s 4x100 relay with a split time of 8.29 seconds. “He was Ghana’s anchor and his 8.92 seconds was the FASTEST time in the entire 4x100m heat among all the competitors”, the post added. Verna Mineral water product recall

The company that produces Verna mineral water has initiated a product recall from the market following some factory defect. Products that are being recalled have the batch numbers TW/5 20:14 B, TW/5 20: 15 B, TW/5 20: 16 B, TW/ 5 20: 17 B, TW/ 5 20: 22 B. South Africa: Fifteen shot dead in Soweto township bar

At least 15 people have been shot dead in a bar in the South African township of Soweto, police say .   Police said gunmen entered the Orlando East tavern in the early hours of Sunday morning and started firing randomly at a group of young people. They then fled the scene in a white minibus. No motive for the attack has been established, police said. Several more people are in a critical condition in hospital, the BBC's Nomsa Maseko reports. The victims are believed to be between 19 and 35 years old. Gauteng province's head of police, Lieutenant General Elias Mawela, told the BBC the shooting appears to have been "a cold-blooded attack on innocent tavern patrons." A press statement released by his office said the gunmen had been armed with rifles and 9mm pistols when they entered the bar.
