The abandoned Ngleshie Amanfro Community Library

Students and teachers in Ngleshie Amanfro has called on philanthropists, cooperate orgainastions and individuals to come to their aid to renovate and expand the only community library in the municipal assembly.

The library, located in the centre of the community has been left abandoned for over six years.

According to students in the community, they have never had the opportunity to visit the library but hence have library periods in their timetables.

"I got enrolled into Ngleshie Amanfro primary school in 2016, I'm in junior high school now and I don't know how the inside of the only library in the community looks like", said a student.

Although the community library served all students both public and private school students years ago, many benefited from private studies and research.

Teachers in the various schools also shared concerns of the community not having a library. Saying, teaching cannot only be done in the classroom, the student also has a responsibility to do further research of what is taught and this could be done when there is a library stocked with books.

"Libraries store the energy that fuels the imagination. They open up windows to the world and inspire us to explore and achieve, and contribute to improving our quality of life", quoted by a teacher.

The library is currently in a defying state with weeds all around the structure, broken entrance and it wire fence stolen. Animals now graze on the weedy compound as well as their resting and sleeping places.

Students of the community are calling on stakeholders in various sectors to assist in the renovation and expansion of the library for them to have a fair share of academic leisure hours for personal studies and further research.
