The Member of Parliament (MP) for Bortianor-Ngleshie Amanfro Mr Sylvester Tetteh seem unconcerned about the reoccurring highway floods in his Constituency.

For over four years, the stretch from  Kasoa tollbooth to Broadcasting junction suffer road block due to landslide caused by rains. A section of the road, infront of Osiadan Company Limited is succumbed to flood accompanied with mudslide from the Broadcasting Hill.

Road users who plight this stretch tend to share the other carriageway with incoming traffic. This danger taken by these drivers for the safety of their vehicles to prevent stuck in the mud and flood.

Similar, but worse is seen on the same stretch from West Hills Mall junction to Kokrobite Junction (Old Barrier). A section of the road from SCC junction to Kokrobite junction always gets flooded with muddy sand after every downpour.

The muddy sand render the road impassable, thus leaving motorists and commuters stranded. The heap of sand narrow the dual carriage road into a single lane while the usual  morning traffic on that road worsen the situation. Recalcitrant drivers who ignore Police instructions and drive through the sand, get stuck.

Some vehicles, including Burkina Faso-Abidjan bound articulated trucks, get stuck, the affected drivers therefore spend the night on the road. The Accra Regional RDF Commander, Superintendent, Freeman Kumashie once joined the MTTD officers to direct traffic.

Though the location is a known flood-prone area, this incident has been described as worst, as a storm drain that collects water from the Aplaku and Red Top mountains, is silted and volumes of water kept gushing out onto road.

Residents have been calling on government as a mater of urgency to find an immediate solution to the problem. According to them, proper drainage will be the lasting solution and any delay will put their lives in danger especially in rainy season.

A commercial driver once said that the challenge causes damage to their cars. He said as early as 5:30am on one Monday, the traffic from the Old Barrier-Block factory area extended to Galilea, a suburb of Ngleshie Amanfro.

Commercial motor riders, also known as Okada, field their day as passengers who dreaded getting to work late engaged their services.

The Member of Parliament who has a duty for his people and constituency is seen galivanting from media stations to another making jokes of Sam George, MP for Ningo Prampram. In other instance, he has declared his support for Alan Kyeremanteng to lead the NPP to victory 2024.

"Has Sylvester Tetteh thought of victory 2024 in the Bortianor-Ngleshie Amanfro? The exit will be shown to him if a lasting solution is not made to stop the highway floods in his constituency."
